Trojans take down G-R girls, 54-28 STATE CENTER — Renae Schaper tallied a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds to help the West Marshall girls’ basketball team take care of Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 54-28, in Friday’s NICL West Division contest. Teresa Disney added a game-high 18 points to go with six rebounds for the Trojans (3-0, 1-0), who led 20-2 after the first quarter and 40-14 at the half. Karlyn Snider added 11 points and seven assists. Mahayla Olson led Gladbrook-Reinbeck (0-3, 0-2) with 10 points and Saari Kuehl finished with eight points.


Rebels finish off West Marshall boys STATE CENTER — Tyler Tscherter scored a game-high 19 points as the Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ basketball team pulled away from West Marshall for a 52-35 win in Friday’s NICL West Division contest. William Kiburis added 10 points, Eli Thede had eight and Luke Riffey finished with seven as the Rebels (2-0, 2-0) broke open a close game with a 13-2 advantage in the fourth period. West Marshall (0-2, 0-1) used a 12-0 run in the third quarter to get back into the game, which G-R led 26-16 at the half. The Trojans were unable to complete the comeback and fell off pace in the final quarter. Gabe Jones led West Marshall with 11 points and six rebounds, while Qwinton Wilder finished with eight points. Caleb Keigan had six points and four assists, and Brian Morrison added six points and five rebounds. Manny Lazard pitched in four points and three steals, and Brayden Evertsen also had six rebounds in the loss.
