ANKENY – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ basketball team suffered defeat in Monday’s regular-season finale, falling 53-43 to Class 1A No. 8 Ankeny Christian Academy (17-3).

The Rebels (15-6) were led by Walker Thede’s 13 points. Caden Kickbush added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Mason Skovgard finished with seven points and eight boards.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck opens District 7 play at home Thursday, facing Iowa Valley in the 8 p.m. game. GMG and North Tama meet in the 6:30 p.m. opener in Reinbeck.
