REINBECK – Gladbrook-Reinbeck junior Taylor Gienger matched her career-high with 23 points and the Rebel girls’ basketball team trampled Ankeny Christian Academy 68-31 in both teams’ season-opener here Tuesday night.

Maddie Frischmeyer and Saari Kuehl added 11 points apiece for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, which started last season 0-17 after falling to these same Eagles in the opener.

Haleigh Berendes chipped in six points while Megan Swanson and Madison Denny-Weber both finished with five points for G-R, which led 36-6 after the first quarter.

Kenna Laib led Ankeny Christian Academy with 12 points.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck is off until Dec. 1, when the Rebels host Grundy Center in their NICL West Division opener.
