No. 3 G-R withstands West Marshall challenge

REINBECK – The Class 1A No. 3 Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys basketball team squeaked by West Marshall 63-57, halting a two game skid Friday night in NICL West action.

Joe Smoldt guided the Rebels (9-2, 6-0 NICL West) with 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Smoldt had 19 by halftime, and made eight free throws in the fourth quarter. Caden Kickbush and Tyler Pierce finished with the same amount of points and boards, each finishing with 11 points and six rebounds.

West Marshall (5-10, 3-5 NICL West) was led by David Disney with 16 points and eight rebounds. Alex Dickey added 12 points, while Beau Coberley contributed 11. Joseph Halverson posted nine points, and Josh Larsen finished with six.
