Smoldt bolsters Rebels with career-high night
REINBECK – Class 1A’s fourth-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ basketball team remain undefeated as Joe Smoldt’s career-high scoring led the Rebels to an 86-50 win over NICL West Division foe West Marshall on Friday.
The Rebels scored at least 20 points in each of the first three quarters.
Smoldt led Gladbrook-Reinbeck (5-0, 5-0) with a career-high 32 points to go with seven steals. Zach Pierce scored 12 points with four rebounds and three steals. Mark Roeding reached double figures with 10 points.
West Marshall (2-7, 2-3) was led by Dustin Trowbridge with 13 points and three rebounds. David Disney added 11 points and three rebounds. Garrett Nichols scored 10 points. Nick Juel scored seven points with three assists and four steals.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck plays today against Denver in a cross-division NICL matchup in Reinbeck. West Marshall plays at Gilbert on Jan. 3.
