JV Rebel football

We made the trip southwest on Monday September 15 to take on the Comets of BCLUW in a JV football match-up. Our guys were itching to play another game because of the fact we had lost our first game do to weather and we also lost the 4th quarter of the DNH game for lightning. We wanted a full game and we were ready.

The game started quickly for us and on the third play from scrimmage Parker Bown went 50 yards to pay dirt. We would never look back as we cruised to an overwhelming 42-0 lead at the half. We were playing some pretty good football and the kids really kept their foot on the gas. Parker score 2 more times and Matt Roeding caught 2 touchdown passes from Hunter Lott in the opening half. Erik Knaack also grabbed a TD pass with an acrobatic 1 hand catch to highlight our first half scoring. Parker added 1 more TD run in the very quick second half and we coasted in for an impressive 49-6 victory moving us to 1-1 on the year. A lot of players saw a lot of minutes in this game. We also moved some guys to positions they were not all that familiar with. Everyone played hard but we still have to eliminate our mistakes such as penalties and poor execution. We will continue to get better every week.

Parker led the way with 125 yards on the ground and the 4 TD’s and a perfect 7 for 7 on PAT kicks. Hunter passed for 100 yards and ran for another 52. Matt had his 2 TD catches for 45 yards and Erik’s score came from 32 yards out. Walker Thede grabbed the last completion which was good for 23 yards. Defensively Thomas Mussig led the charge with 7 tackles. Jed Peterson, Slade Wager, and Parker followed with 4 stops each. Hunter, Dmitriy Strohbehn, and Matt 3, Erik, Josh Saak, Gage Murty, Rhett Barnes, Spencer Goos, Mason Skovgard, and Josh Peterson 2, Joseph Pepe, Tyler Pierce, Caden Kickbush, Matt Johannsen, and Alex Tscherter all added 1 tackle each for our defensive effort. Matt Roeding also intercepted a pass and Rhett fell on a fumble for also on defense. All in all it was a pretty good effort by the Rebels and we will continue to build on this.

Our next action will be Monday September 29 at home when we will host the Trojans from West Marshall. We also will have the same Trojans back at the Pit on Thursday October 2 for a Fresh-Soph showdown. Both nights’ game will kick off at 6 p.m. Come on out and see the future of Rebel football.
