Garwin American Legion Lounge The Garwin American Legion Lounge is now open Fri., Sat., and Sun., at 1 p.m. Public is welcome. Community Breakfast The Garwin Revitalization Committee is sponsoring a community breakfast on Sunday, February 5, serving from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Garwin city Park shelter house. Menu includes Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, toast, coffee and juice. All proceeds go towards community projects. This is a free will offering.


Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary will meet on Sat., Feb. 4th, 9:30 at Westbrook Acres. Valentine favors will be made for the county home. Chr. are Marilyn Peters, Shanna Goos, and Linda Randolph.


Gladbrook Legion & Auxiliary The Gladbrook Legion & Auxiliary will meet on Mon., Feb. 13th, at 6:30 for a supper hosted by the Auxiliary. There will be an Americanism Program by Lisa Reinhard and a Legislative Program by Kay Lowry. Hostesses are Becky Fevold, Michelle Gethmann, and Colleen Behounek.


Crayon Corner Learning Center Valentine Dinner and Dance Crayon Corner will host their annual Valentine Dinner & Dance, Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Gladbrook Memorial Building, $15.00 per ticket, may be bought from any preschool child, staff, and board members or call the center at (641) 473-2600 to purchase tickets. Social time, 6:00 p.m., Silent Auction, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., Dinner, 7:00 p.m., Dance, 8:00 p.m. to midnight.  


Tama Co. Cattlement Tama County Cattlemen are currently seeking applications for their 2012 Tama County Beef Queen and 2012 Scholarship. All interested youth please contact a Tama County Cattlemen Board Director for an application. The 2012 Queen will be selected March 3rd during the County Banquet. All scholarship applications are due April 30, 2012 and announced in May.


Crop Residue and Fertilizer Management Workshop Planned Want to know more about strip-till? Fertilizer placement? Cover crops? Cost-share funding? Soil quality? These topics and more will be presented at a workshop on residue and fertilizer management on Tuesday, February 14 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Memorial & Legion Building in Gladbrook, 421 Johnson Street. It is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Union Grove Lake Watershed Project. Gladbrook Trees Forever Gladbrook Trees Forever reminds residents to slowly apply 5 gallons of water weekly to newly planted trees.


Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.


Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen
