Gladbrook Theater 1. Gladbrook Theater closed this week.  If you would like to help with some painting please stop in or call 641-473-2410. 2. Gladbrook Theater will show a test run of “The Adventures of TinTin” on Thurs. Jan. 26.  If you donated to the digital/3D project you are cordially invited to attend.  Concessions will open at 7:00 and the movie will show at 7:30. The movie is digital 3D, a first for the Gladbrook Theater.


Garwin American Legion Lounge The Garwin American Legion Lounge is now open Fri., Sat., and Sun., at 1 p.m. Public is welcome. Upcoming events include, Sat., Jan. 21, “Classic Country”, 8 p.m., adult beverage specials.; Sun., Feb. 2, SB football party featuring a chili cook-off. Gladbrook Auxiliary Sewing Bee The Gladbrook Auxiliary will conduct a sewing bee on Thursday, January 19, and Friday, Janaury 20, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. Please bring a can of soup and volunteers are needed.


Gladbrook Legion Pancake Breakfast The Gladbrook Legion will have a pancake, bisquits and gravy and french toast breakfast on Sunday, January 22 with proceeds for their Boys State program They will serve from 7-12:30pm and welcome everyone to come and support their community service.


Tama Co. Cattlement Tama County Cattlemen are currently seeking applications for their 2012 Tama County Beef Queen and 2012 Scholarship. All interested youth please contact a Tama County Cattlemen Board Director for an application. The 2012 Queen will be selected March 3rd during the County Banquet. All scholarship applications are due April 30, 2012 and announced in May.


Crop Residue and Fertilizer Management Workshop Planned Want to know more about strip-till? Fertilizer placement? Cover crops? Cost-share funding? Soil quality? These topics and more will be presented at a workshop on residue and fertilizer management on Tuesday, February 14 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. The event will take place at the Memorial & Legion Building in Gladbrook, 421 Johnson Street. It is free and open to the public, sponsored by the Union Grove Lake Watershed Project.
