Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary will meet on Sat., Oct. 23rd, 9:30 at Westbrook Acres. The girls will make favors for the residents of Westbrook. Hostesses are Jodi Betts, KarenEggers, and Marilyn Thoms.


Gladbrook Legion The Gladbrook Legion will meet for their October meeting at 6:30pm on Monday, October 18 for a light supper and meeting following. Plan to attend as Junior Shooting and pancake breakfast help need to be lined up.


Gladbrook Scouts Annual Scouting for Food Drive Saturday, October 23: Annual Scouting for Food Drive. Place your non-perishable food items in a sack or box on your doorstep by 9:00 a.m. All food donations will be delivered directly to the Food Pantry. For more information contact Stephanie Goos, chairperson.


Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. will meet Thursday October 14th. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Meat, potatoes will be furnished. Please bring a dish to share. Meeting will follow.


Tama County Democratic Party The Tama County Democratic Party will hold an open house at its headquarters, 114 E High Street in Toledo on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at 6 p.m. Voters are invited to tour the office and pick-up yard signs for their favorite candidates. Local candidates Richard Arp(1st District Supervisor), Mary Jo Cherveny(Treasurer) and Marilyn Svoboda(Recorder) will be on hand to chat with the public. Refreshments will be served.


Gladbrook Festival of Trees There will be a planning meeting for the “Festival of Trees” on Mon., Oct. 18th, 7 p.m. at the theater. Anyone that would like to help decorate for the Festival of Trees are encouraged to attend the meeting. If anyone has decorations the Commercial Club can use for the Festival of Trees call Jeanne at 473-2802 or 641-751-2039. The tree lighting will be Wed., Dec. 1st.


GYW Halloween Party The Gladbrook Young Women Halloween Party will be October 30, 2010 at 10:00am at the Gladbrook City Center for ages 0 – 4th graders. Come in Costume! All activities and movie are free. Parents are encouraged to stay.


Bethany UMC invites public to dinner Bethany United Methodist Church, 619 W. State St. in Marshalltown, announces Hot Beef Dinner on Oct. 16th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend this dinner which includes a hot beef sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy,desserts and a beverage. A free will offering will be collected. There will be a craft and bake sale at this time. Participants are asked to use lower level west door.


Save the Date! Gladbrook Annual Tree Lighting Gladbrook’s Annual Tree Lighting Festivities will be held Wednesday, December 1.


FALL Into Winter Sale The Gladbrook Young Women will be hosting a FALL Into Winter Sale. The sale will be Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. This will be open to those wanting to have a garage sale, sell crafts and to home based vendors. If interested please call Jackie at 641-473-2729 by October 16th, 2010 to reserve a booth.


Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.


Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen
