Gladbrook Gals & Guys The new 4-H year for the Gladbrook Gals & Guys will start Sunday, October 10, 6:00 p.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. All 4th grade through seniors are eligible. All members should bring one hot of one cold dish, along with plates and silverware for themselves, drinks will be provided. Also for Teacher Appreciation baskets we are asking for everyone to bring three muffins, apples or any other fruit. If you have any questions or cannot attend contact Kendra Vavroch at (641) 473-2464. Hope to see you at the 2010-11 4-H kickoff!!


Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. will meet Thursday October 14th. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Meat, potatoes will be furnished. Please bring a dish to share. Meeting will follow.


Gladbrook Festival of Tree There will be a planning meeting for the “Festival of Trees” on Mon., Oct. 18th, 7 p.m. at the theater. Anyone that would like to help decorate for the Festival of Trees are encouraged to attend the meeting. If anyone has decorations the Commercial Club can use for the Festival of Trees call Jeanne at 473-2802 or 641-751-2039. The tree lighting will be Wed., Dec. 1st.


GYW Halloween Party The Gladbrook Young Women Halloween Party will be October 30, 2010 at 10:00am at the Gladbrook City Center for ages 0 – 4th graders. Come in Costume! All activities and movie are free. Parents are encouraged to stay.


Bethany UMC invites public to dinner Bethany United Methodist Church, 619 W. State St. in Marshalltown, announces Hot Beef Dinner on Oct. 16th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. The public is invited to attend this dinner which includes a hot beef sandwich, mashed potatoes with gravy,desserts and a beverage. A free will offering will be collected. There will be a craft and bake sale at this time. Participants are asked to use lower level west door.


Save the Date! Gladbrook Annual Tree Lighting Gladbrook’s Annual Tree Lighting Festivities will be held Wednesday, December 1.


FALL Into Winter Sale The Gladbrook Young Women will be hosting a FALL Into Winter Sale. The sale will be Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. This will be open to those wanting to have a garage sale, sell crafts and to home based vendors. If interested please call Jackie at 641-473-2729 by October 16th, 2010 to reserve a booth.


Taco Supper Garwin 4th of July Committee will host a taco supper, Thursday, October 7, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Garwin City Park Shelter House. This is a free-will offering.


Gladbrook Auxiliary The Gladbrook Auxiliary will meet on Mon., Oct. 11th, at 2 p.m. at Westbrook Acres in the Activity Room. This is education month and Beth Murty will be giving a program on the day care. Hostess are Kathy Keiser and Kay Lowry. Please note change of time and location.


GFWC Blood Drive The Gladbrook Fitness & Wellness Center (GFWC) is sponsoring a Blood Drive through the American Red Cross.  You can donate on Wednesday, October 13th, from 1:30 to 6:00 at the Gladbrook City Center at 319 2nd St.  Please call Darin @ 641-691-7336 to schedule an appointment or you can go to redcross.org and search for the Gladbrook Community Blood Drive and choose an appointment time.  This is an excellent time to give before the upcoming Holiday season when the need is even more critical.  Please consider donating blood during our blood drive.


Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.


Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen
