CROP WALK Everyone is invited to come along and join in the CROP WALK on Sun., Oct. 3rd, 2 p.m. gathering at Peace Church. Hopefully we will be walking the Gladbrook Trail. Area churches participating are from Gladbrook, Garwin, and Lincoln. Salem Church is incharge of refreshments following the walk back at Peace Church. All ages are welcome and bring the strollers and pets.


GMG Choir Rummage Sale By: Tyler Thurston Help support the GMG High School Choir by cleaning out your closets and donating to things for our upcoming Rummage Sale. Please send gently used, clean items to the school, care of Ms. Hobart, or bring them to St. Boniface Catholic Social Center Friday, October 1st – between 3:30 – 5:00. Please do not bring anything that doesn’t work or is broken, or clothing that needs mending. Furniture or appliances that require one person to carry are welcome. Please send or bring; clothing, household items, small, working appliances, yard items, toys, musical instruments, etc. Please Note: NO ITEMS will be returned after the sale, and all proceeds will go to benefit the GMG Vocal Music Program. Any items leftover at the end of the sale will be donated to charities. The sale will also be on Saturday, October 2nd from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.


WOW Group The WOW Group will meet Wednesday, October 6, 6:00 p.m. at the Gladbrook United Methodist Church to carpool to Marshalltown for supper. Please call Kay Lowry at (641) 473-2625 with your reservations.


Garwin Community Breakfast Garwin Revitalization Committee will sponsor a Community Breakfast Sunday, October 3, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Garwin City Park Shelter House. Menu includes Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, toast, coffee and juice. Free will offering. All proceeds for community projects.


Allard Family Reunion The Allard family reunion will be held Saturday, October 2, 2010 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. There will be a potluck dinner at noon.


Attention 55 Year Olds and Older! Gladbrook Senior Citizen Lunch Attention 55 Year Olds and Older! We are trying to revive Gladbrook’s senior citizens’ lunches again! The first one will be Fri, Oct 8, at 11:30 am at the Memorial Bldg and will be hosted by the Auxiliary gals. Do not bring food nor your table service. There will be a program so we are hoping for at least 25 people. Call Pat Oettchen, 473-2530, for reservations and if you need a ride by Fri, Oct 1. Come for a great meal and a good time!


Save the Date! Gladbrook Annual Tree Lighting Gladbrook’s Annual Tree Lighting Festivities will be held Wednesday, December 1.



FALL Into Winter Sale The Gladbrook Young Women will be hosting a FALL Into Winter Sale. The sale will be Saturday November 13, 2010 at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. This will be open to those wanting to have a garage sale, sell crafts and to home based vendors. If interested please call Jackie at 641-473-2729 by October 16th, 2010 to reserve a booth.


Taco Supper Garwin 4th of July Committee will host a taco supper, Thursday, October 7, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Garwin City Park Shelter House. This is a free-will offering.


Gladbrook Auxiliary The Gladbrook Auxiliary will meet on Mon., Oct. 11th, at 2 p.m. at Westbrook Acres in the Activity Room. This is education month and Beth Murty will be giving a program on the day care. Hostess are Kathy Keiser and Kay Lowry. Please note change of time and location.


GFWC Blood Drive The Gladbrook Fitness & Wellness Center (GFWC) is sponsoring a Blood Drive through the American Red Cross.  You can donate on Wednesday, October 13th, from 1:30 to 6:00 at the Gladbrook City Center at 319 2nd St.  Please call Darin @ 641-691-7336 to schedule an appointment or you can go to redcross.org and search for the Gladbrook Community Blood Drive and choose an appointment time.  This is an excellent time to give before the upcoming Holiday season when the need is even more critical.  Please consider donating blood during our blood drive.


Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.


Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen
