Gladbrook Legion The Gladbrook Legion will be meeting at 6:30pm on Monday, June 21 starting with a light lunch and the business meeting following. Volunteers are asked to help build the Carnival Food Stand on Saturday, June 19. Terry and his moving equipment will be at the annex at 1:30pm and we need lots of workers. The more hands we have, the quicker it goes up, so please come!


Tama County Legion Flag Burning Ceremony The Tama County Legion is having their annual flag-burning ceremony and potluck at 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 22 at the Traer Post Home. If you have a torn or unservicable flag, bring it to the Memorial Bldg and we will see that it is disposed of properly. If you would like to observe this ceremony, it will take place at about 7-7:30 p.m.


World War II Memorabilia World War II memorabilia will be on display at the City Centre during Corn Carnival. This is your chance to see a collection of history.


Gladbrook Theater Concessions The Gladbrook Theater concessions will be open daily at 1:00 p.m.


Matchstick Marvels We are in desperate need of volunteers. If you have two hours a week or two hours a month, please call (641) 473-2410 or stop in.


Gladbrook Farmer’s Market Gladbrook’s Farmer’s Market is every Wednesday evening 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. located across from the Gladbrook City Center. In case of bad weather the market will be held in the City Center. Gladbrook’s Farmer’s Market is open thru October.


Garwin Wednesday Night Entertainment on the Bandstand Garwin’s Wednesday Night Entertainment on the Bandstand for Wed., June 23, 7 to 8 p.m., will be Joyful Noise with Clint & Julie Francisco. Farmer’s Market 6 to 8 p.m. For more info please call Joyce @ (641) 499-2215.


Corn Carnival Nightly Entertainment The Gladbrook Corn Carnival Corp. has lined up special entertainment for Thursday and Friday nights of carnival on the east end of Main Street by the foodstand. On Thurs., June 24, the “Country Classic Four” will play for a couple of hours after the Kiddies Parade. Vic Switzer, who plays during the summer at Westbrook when they host “Music on the Front Porch”, has lined up some pretty talented musicians from Waterloo to form this four piece band. Friday night, June 25th, after the Grand Parade the “The Other Band:” will be playing. Jack Stowe is a member of this band. They have shared their music with us several times in the past. The nightly entertainment is being provided by Goos Implement, Gladbrook Covenant Clinic, Great Western Bank, Farmers Savings Bank & Trust, Traer, Alliant-Energy, and the Gladbrook Corn Carnival Corporation.


Dollars for Scholars The Dollars for Scholars Committee members along with GR high school students are flippin’ flapjacks to get the Fourth of July weekend off to a great start! This year in conjunction with the 5K run the Dollars for Scholars committee has decided to sponsor a pancake breakfast to raise money for scholarships for the GR Senior Class of 2011. The pancake breakfast will be taking place on Saturday, July 3rd at the shelter house in Elmwood Park. The hours for the event are 7-10 am. Advanced ticket sales are taking place right now. Tickets can be purchased for $4 a piece. If you wait until the day of the breakfast tickets will be $5. The meal includes pancakes, sausage, and juice, milk, or coffee. If you are not approached by a committee member or high school student please feel free to stop by Lincoln Savings Bank and ask for Steve Tscherter or Tammy Greiner and they will have tickets available. Again, please join us on Saturday, July 3rd from 7-10 am at Elmwood Park. Bring your family and out of town guests and support the high school students of Gladbrook-Reinbeck!


Konicek and Mochal Reunion Don’t forget to come to Konicek and Mochal Reunion Sunday, June 27 at the Elberon United Methodist Church basement for a noon potluck. Bring your covered dish, tableservice, item of interest and enjoy a wonderfull afternoon visiting with your relation.


Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.


Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen
