Where Is Your Heart This Summer
Pastor John Granchie.
Matthew 6: 19-21 says, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal; but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
This summer as we head off to vacation, picnics and parades. Ask yourself, Where’s my heart? For there your treasure will be also! What is your heart’s desire? What is the force that drives you? What is the reason you get up every day?
Think about this, what do you spend most of your time doing? If you have a day off, what do you do with it? When you have the opportunity to choose what your time is spent on, how do you spend it? Figure that out and you have also named your treasure, and you have found where your heart is. As believers in Christ, it is easy to fall into the trap of giving our hearts to things other than God.
Maybe we are addicted to exercise (guilty) or alcohol or lust, or maybe we spend too much time working or keeping the house clean, or keeping our cars and boats finely tuned. While there is nothing wrong with some of these things. We as Christians must be careful not to give our heart to our positions, homes, or bodies. We must not let anything become our hearts desire other than our one true King Jesus.
“For in God we live and move and have our being,” (Acts 17:28). Stop and pause and look over your life for just a moment. If you find you have made anything besides Christ your treasure, and given your heart to anything but Him, then take a moment and ask forgiveness, for He is faith full to forgive. Then have an honest conversation with God about how to change that. Ask God to be your treasure, your one true King. Ask God to be your everything instead of your one of many things. Here’s the thing…wait long enough to get the answers! Be Still and know that He is God!!
I pray for each of you that Christ will be your treasure and one true King and that your heart will belong totally to Him and Him alone. Enjoy your Summer!!
In Christ Love.
