Living in a land of confusion
Right is wrong, wrong is right, males are females, females are males, the world is flat, the world is round, who can make sense of all this nonsense. Those of us who live by the Bible understand and know first-hand that Satan is the author of confusion. The play book has always been the same, to get man to doubt the word of God.
In the book of Timothy in the Bible we read in Chapter 3:1-5 “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God– 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people: “As we read this passage it is almost as if Timothy was talking about life on earth in 2024. Sin is no longer sin and evil is no longer evil depending on what news outlet you are watching, or in some cases, depending on what church denomination you belong to.
Later in Chapter 4 in the Book of Timothy we read 3 “For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” Once again as you read these passages it is almost as if Timothy is looking at life in this day and age.
But for those of us who profess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, we have hope. We know that the Bible also tells us in the book of Malachi 3:6 “I, the Lord never change.'” We are also reminded in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” We don’t have to worry about all the nonsense being spoken by those who are living by worldly standards and their ever changing opinions of what is popular or what feels good.
We are reminded in Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” As followers of Christ, we can live in confidence knowing our Heavenly Father has placed each one of us here for such a time as this. We are to live our lives showing those around us the love of Christ and do our best to make disciples for His kingdom.
Our time on earth is limited, so make the most of it by living your life to the fullest, giving all glory and honor to God, so that one day when you stand before His Glory you may hear the words, “Well done my faithful servant.”
During this Lenten season, may your joy be found in your relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As the prophet Isaiah said, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”
