Dengler Domain: Happy New Year!

Sean Dengler.

It is the end of the year and time to reflect on what the year was. Learn from the good and the bad to make next year a different one from the past. It is cliché, but why not make some new year’s resolutions? I have never been one to make firm and hard resolutions, but they can be a good jumping off point. Let us have some fun with them.

For example, eat more enjoyable foods. This does not need to be the standard ‘eat more vegetables and fruits’ which is still phenomenal to try but enjoy your food. Having candy or ice cream here and there is not the worst activity in the world. Do not spoil your appetite but cut yourself some slack. If you have the wherewithal to try to eat only healthy foods, go for it. It will help in the long run but enjoy a treat from time to time.

If you enjoyed one too many treats during the holiday season, take part in a new workout routine. It does not have to be one of hitting the treadmill and burning it that way. Find some friends or a new workout class to make the workout enjoyable. Whatever you must do to make it worth it to work out will be best overall. If the workout needs to be simple, do that. Going for a walk once or twice a day will certainly help, and walks can be physically and mentally good.

The last resolution is to chill. The holiday season can be busy and stressful so take a deep breath and relax. Find time to relax or do rewarding activities to fulfill the soul. Go to a movie, spa, or anywhere where it forces one to leave the confines of life. It will help to find time to do this in life to not feel so go, go, go. Be mindful of your days and set aside time to rejuvenate. It will help immensely.

These resolutions can serve as a jumping off point. Do a quick internet search, and you will find plenty more. Find what fits your needs for 2023, and maybe nothing needs to change. That is also good. At least reflecting on this past year and deciding what to do going forward in the new year will be worth it. Life is always changing so why not make a better change with it. Have some fun and relaxation next year. Happy New Year!
