30 Years Ago December 1, 1989 The old wooden section of the Beaman Coop Elevator was destroyed by fire early morning, November 29. Lincoln’s Outstanding Citizen for 1989 is Pauline Whelan. Bernice Gienger will celebrate her 80th birthday. Lorie and Rick Raymond are the parents of a son, Wade Lee, born November 19. Wade joins his three-year-old sister, Brittany, at home. Grandparents are Ambrose and Karen Kearney of Garwin and Donna and Roger Raymond of Corsicana, Texas. 40 Years Ago December 7, 1979 Mrs. Jean (William) Schneider, 38, rural Gladbrook, was killed in a two-car collision Tuesday morning of this week. The Tama Co. Farm Bureau was named the top county Farm Bureau in Iowa during awards ceremonies at the Iowa Farm Bureau convention in Des Moines. This is the third consecutive win for Tama County. Flags are flying 24 hours a day in lincoln during the crisis in Iran. 50 Years Ago November 28, 1969 Mr. and Mrs. Marcus Billerbeck of Reinbeck will observe their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. William Edwards, Waterloo, are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Sheri, to Dale Sienknecht, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sienknecht, of Gladbrook. Raymond Wrede, of Garwin, announces the engagement of his daughter, Pamela Raye, to Airman Kevin Long, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Long, of Albion.



60 Years Ago November 27, 1959 Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Bine of Davenport became the parents of a boy on Monday. They have one other child, a daughter. Mrs. Bine is the former Sandra Reinhard. Friends and neighbors of the late John Claussen harvested his corn last Saturday. They came with 8 corn pickers, 11 tractors and wagons, 4 trucks and 2 corn shellers. 70 Years Ago November 25, 1949 Miss Margaret Chesick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Chesick, Gladbrook, and Edward Harms, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harms, Reinbeck, were united in marriage on November 5. Mrs. Lawrence Boll was taken to the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown last weekend where she underwent a major operation.


80 years Ago November 24, 1939 Dr. and Mrs. L. G. Schaeferle are the parents of a son, Mark Blaine, born November 22. he has one sister, Karen, 2 1/2 years old at home. Mr. and Mrs. William Langenbaugh, who live north of Garwin, are the parents of a son, Raymond August, born November 14. The City Council of Gladbrook is considering the possibility of installing some sort of sewage disposal plant and with the aid of a state sanitation expert figuring costs. Esther Dahms was awarded the gold medal for 4-H canning. 90 Years Ago November 28, 1929 Swift & Co. have taken over Schreiber Produce Company’s business in Gladbrook and it will be managed by Mark Harrison and Frank Eggers.
