Pastor’s Corner Rev. Barb Muhs, pastor, Salem Church of Lincoln Lincoln, Iowa
This past week in many of our churches we read from Luke about the persistent woman who was confronting a judge frequently. Finally the judge consented and told the woman what she wanted to hear and although he wasn’t very sincere about it he ultimately did something. This week has been one of those weeks. With every “enter”, “delete” or “send” our computer has decided that something special needs to be done or replaced! A new router, a new code, a new password…I am beginning to feel a bit like the judge in the woman“s case and am on the verge of computer replacement! I then pause and remind myself that throughout our lives we too, frustrate God in our coming and going. In our attention to him and our lack at other times. I do hope that this is a week in which you can find reasons to send, reply or delete some of your messages to God. God knows what you want before you ask, if you keep on asking you’ll eventually get your answer and I’ll replace my computer. In the meantime, I’ll share information with you that perhaps you know or perhaps you’ll learn something from my memo… Once a month your ministers from the Northwest Tama County clergy gather at Spanky’s for lunch, fellowship and to get caught up on events and happenings in the area. We usually occupy the “upper level” in the dining room. Don’t ever feel that you are interrupting by saying hello or chiming in. YOU are the reason that we gather and talk! This year we are trying new approaches. We have changed our services at Westbrook to Tuesday instead of Wednesday. Our paper articles are in somewhat of a rotational writing. We are looking forward to the Thanksgiving Service at Westbrook on Sunday, November 24th. As your clergy we do enjoy leading worship together within the community. As many of you have celebrated Clergy Appreciation month, know that clergy in the area appreciate YOU and your commitment not only to the local church but in the many ways you live out your faith in the community. Happy Fall with Abundant blessings!
