10 YEARS AGO OCT. 22, 2009 Reinbeck City Council has four candidates running on Nov. 3. They are: Jamie Eiffler, Jeff Etrin ger and Allen Stickfort. Ervin Heller, 93, Toledo, died Oct. 13 at Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Cindy Hilsaback, Grundy Center, has completed her 40 hours to become a certified Master Gardner Dan Campman received his 30 year service award. He is employed as Head of GIS/Mapping Coordinator. 20 YEARS AGO OCT. 21, 1999 Renee Mumm and Alexa Krull, 5th graders at Reinbeck Elementary School, will sing with the Northern Ia. Children choir. Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Sharp, Marshalltown, are parents of a daughter born Oct. 11 in Des Moines. Virginia Miller, 78, died Oct. 12 at Allen Hospital. David Capoccioni, 58, died Oct. 12 at U of Ia. Hospital. Sarah Wambold successfully defended her Conference title in the 100 yard butterfly in Grinnell. Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Schulta, Waterloo, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 22. Darin Nugent was admitted to practice law in Ks, Derek Wood son of Mr. & Mrs. Lonnie Wood placed 2nd in the run, punt and pass competition held in Greene on Oct. 16. 30 YEARS AGO NOV. 2, 1989 Angie Diehm was selected as a member of the 1989 State Band. Scott Harmsen, 4, died at the Un. of Omaha Medical Center on Oct. 25. Leonard Brandt, 62, Reinbeck, died Oct 29. Ben DeVries, 66. Traer, died Oct. 25 after a brief illness. Gary Korte finished 4th place at the State Cross Country meeting in Ames. Lynne Ede and Mitchell Campbell were married Sept. 30 at the United Methodist Church. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Saak are parents of a daughter born Oct. 19. Rebels finished their football season with a loss to the Dike Bobcats 24-0. 40 YEARS AGO NOV. 8, 1979 A total of 612 voters cast their ballots- Mark Nash was elected as Mayor. Funeral services were held on Nov. 5 for Manne Bakker, 67, Morrison. L.E. Reinig, 79, Toledo, died Oct. 27, Reinbeck High School to present “No, No. Nanette” on Nov. 9 & 10. 50 YEARS AGO Bolin’s Flowers are holding a grand opening on Sat. Nov. 8. Free red roses to the first 100 ladies. Mr. & Mrs. Lee Petersen are parents of a son born Oct. 30. The senior class will present a 3 act comedy “My Three Angels” on Nov. 7 & 8.
