Danielle Dobbins and Jeremy Johnson plan to be married on June 13 in Morrison, IL. Sara Luehring & Chad Lenz plan wedding for July 11 at the United Methodist Ch. in Gladbrook. Ashley Flater & Brian Pippert were married Oct. 18 in Grundy Center.

20 YEARS AGO MAY 27, 1999 Kay Weiss will retire after 36 years of teaching. Grundy Co. Supervisors are taking bids on a new maintenance shed. Grundy Co. 4-H member Christine Schreck was awarded an alumni 4-H scholarship in nursing. Boys golf team is going to state. Melissa Stull is 1999 winner of the Ann Freffel Scholarship award. Jason Dew to graduate from AIC with a Associate Degree in Business Administration Management. Eric Junge & Melissa Grim were married Dec. 5 in Ames. Mr. & Mrs. Russ Greiner will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on May 29. Orville Rickert, 88, died May 19 at his home. 30 YEARS AGO JUNE 1,, 1989 A elevator caught fire and burned to the ground in Morrison,. Strong winds and heavy rain damaged and destroyed several farms. Action post 242 selected Kevin Petersen to represent them at Boys State at Camp Dodge in Des Moines. Class of 1939 had their 50th class reunion on June 3. Kenneth Stoakes retired as Superintendent of Reinbeck School. 40 YEARS AGO JUNE 7, 1979 A storm with hail, high winds and a lot of rain hit the area,. A tornado demolished the Gus Wrage home near Gladbrook and damaged buildings on several other farms. Th Reinbeck City Council is enforcing the building code of the town and building permits are now required. Tim DeLange, Grundy Center, died May 30 at Iowa City Hospital. Wm. Drahos, 69, Dinsdale was found dead in his home. Lois Johnson died May 31 following a stroke. Dr. & Mrs. Steve Bartusch are parents of a daughter born May 29. Mr. & Mrs. Kim Robinson are parents of a daughter born May 31. 50 YEARS AGO JUNE 5, 1969 Mr. & Mrs. Noah Mathes observed their 71 st wedding anniversary on June 1. Lyle Hildebrand, 75, died at Schoitz Hospital. Eileen Schultz Grundy Center, became the Public Health Nurse on June 1. She succeeded Laura Ellinger who held the position for 10 years. Grundy Co. peace officers are sponsoring a fish derby on June 18. Dotta Harders & Charles Barnes were married May 31. Danny Kettner & John Wagner, both of Cedar Falls, won the annual Oak Leaf Country Club “Best Shot” golf tournament with an 18 hole total of 60.
