10 YEARS AGO FEB. 19, 2009 Brandon Oettchen, senior 140 lbs. wrestler, qualifies for the State Meet in Des Moines with a 2nd place finish. Maggie Bean and Andrew Davis were married Feb. 14 at the UCC Church in Reinbeck. AGC of Iowa recognized local construction firm PCI with the Brown award which is the highest Corporate Award that the chapter to one of its member companies. Marlys Wyatt, 88, Hudson, died Feb. 12 at Parkview Manor Roger Redfearn, 80, Evansdale, died Feb. 15 at Allen Hospital. A two car accident on Highway #14 and D-67. Accident remains under investigation. 20 YEARS AGO FEB. 18, 1999 Grundy Co. Pork Producers to hold annual meeting on Feb. 25. Harold Bowen, 68, died Feb. 9 at Parkview Manor. Irene Sprague, 80, Grundy Center, died Feb. 11 at the Grundy Hospital. Shanna Wedmore & Sam Goos were married Oct. 24 in Gladbrook. Mr. & Mrs. Frederick Wulf observed their 40th wedding anniversary on Feb. 20. 30 YEARS AGO FEB. 23, 1989 Robert (Bud) Isenhower, 75, formerly of Hudson, died Feb. 18. Raleigh Cramer, 81, Grundy Center, died Feb. 13 of heart failure. Jason Rinz, Traer, currently State Senior Councilor of DeLay in Iowa received a first place award in public speaking winning the coveted Ritual Supremacy Trophy for three years in a row. 40 YEARS AGO MARCH 1, 1979 Steve Heithoff, Reinbeck, sign “letter of intent” to attend and play football at UNI. Funeral services were held for Francis Witt on Feb. 26. Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Benson will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Feb. 14. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Koch pf Reinbeck will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on March 13. Mr. & Mrs. Robert Beenken of Lincoln will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Mr. LeRoy Ditzler Dike, died Feb. 23 at Pakview Manor. 50 YEARS AGO FEB. 27, 1969 Jack McIntypre, Reinbeck, was seriously injured in an auto accident on Feb. 23. Leonard Boege employed at Morrison Coop narrowly escaped serious injury when he was pinned between two railroad cars. He suffered only severe bruises. Albert Witt, 84, died Feb. 21 at Schoitz Hospital. Mr. & Mrs. Joe Clapp are parents of a daughter born Feb. 4 Mr. & Mrs. Bill Cooley are parents of a daughter born Feb. 20. Mr. & Mrs. John Blackburn are parents of twins boys born Feb. 19.

Ruth Ann Gooden will celebrate her 80th birthday on March 1. Mildred Witt will celebrate her 100th birthday on March 4. Adam Wical & Holly Musch are parents of a son born Feb. 6. Whitney Lyon and Tiffany Petersen will perform with the Buena Vista Un. Concert Band on March 1. Vivian Schuknecht, 99, Reinbeck, died Feb. 21 at Parkview Manor. Darlene Schmitz, 85, died Feb. 18, 2009. 20 YEARS AGO FEB. 25, 1999 Angela Frisbie, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Frisbie, has been accepted at Indiana Wesleyan Un. in Marion, IN. Mr. & Mrs. Kris Jones are parents of a son born Feb. 9. Mr. & Mrs. Wallace Wilts Holland will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 3. Mildred Witt will be observing her 90th birthday on March 4. Liz Bern celebrated her 80th birthday on Feb. 18. Marvin Petersen, 59, died Feb. 21 in Colorado Springs, CO. Janelle Walterman, 34, Parkersburg, died Feb. 22 at Allen Hospital. Lucile Thede will celebrate her 90th birthday on Feb. 27 with a card shower. Ken Kenyon presented Steve McHenry with a check for $473. for ’99 for Reinbeck Cub Pack #73. 30 YEARS AGO MARCH 2, 1989 Grundy Co. Museum will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an open house. Bill Saak is the new manager of Reinbeck’s Bumper to Bumper Store in Reinbeck Parl Aswegan, 87, Grundy Center, died Feb. 29. Debra Delfs and James Osborn were married Jan. 28. Mary O”Connor & Craig Billerbeck were married Dec. 17. Mr. & Mrs. Ron Peters are parents of a son born Feb. 16. Mr. & Mrs. Steve Freitag are parents of a daughter born Feb. 23. 40 YEARS AGO MARCH 7, 1979 Top winners of ’78 corn yields were first place-Ron Mastain of Hudson, with 182.23 bushels per acre. Second place was R.L. Ohrt & Sons and third place Loren & Larry Pieper, Gladbrook. Soybean yields were first place David Bystricky with 59.36, second place went to Richard Rickert of Traer and third place was Loren & Larry Pieper of Gladbrook. Mr. & Mrs. Bill Ragsdale celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. & Mrs. Donald Jenssen Grundy Center are parents of a son born March 5. Mr. & Mrs Kenneth Rhoades of Grundy Center will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on March 12. 50 YEARS AGO MARCH 6, 1969 Robert Lonergan, 91, died Feb. 28 at Schoitz Hospital. Bill Ballard has announced that he has purchased the South Side Tavern from Clarence Petersen eff. March 1.
