Des Moines, IA– Today, Congressman Leonard Boswell announced that he is accepting applications for nomination to the United States Armed Service Academies from the 3rd Congressional District for the entering class of 2010.           “Every year I look forward to recommending students in my district who wish to serve in and help lead our nation’s armed forces,” said Boswell, a 20-year veteran of the Army. “The armed service academies offer outstanding young men and women great educational opportunities.” Academy applicants are then judged on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character, physical aptitude, medical fitness, and motivation. The Congressman nominates up to 10 candidates from the 3rd Congressional District for each available vacancy. The application deadline is extended to October 15, 2009. Interested students should contact the academies of their choice and contact Congressman Boswell’s office in Des Moines to obtain an application packet (see below).
