Boswell Announces 27th Annual Congressional Art Competition
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Boswell invited students from Iowa’s Third District to participate in the 27th annual Congressional Art Competition, An Artistic Discovery. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 15. This year’s competition for Iowa’s Third District is being held in conjunction with Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC). “This competition provides a way for young artists to receive statewide and national recognition for their talents,” Boswell said. “We extend a special thanks to Jim Stick, the Dean of the Arts and Sciences Department at DMACC, for helping to arrange this exhibition,” he added. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 18 during an 11 a.m. reception at Bondurant-Farrar High School, where all entries will be on public display. The Third District contest winner will have their artwork displayed in a ten-month exhibit at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Winners will have the opportunity to attend an award ceremony in Washington. Artwork selected for the Honorable Mention award will be displayed in Boswell’s Congressional Offices. Entries should be delivered or mailed to Boswell’s District Office, 300 East Locust Street, Suite 320, Des Moines, IA, no later than 4:30 p.m. If necessary, participants can contact the District Office at 515-282-1909 or toll-free at 1-888-432-1984 to coordinate an artwork pick-up from their school.
