Before Judge Kevin McKeever in Tama County District Court in Toledo:


Jared Joseph Troxell, 46, Tiffin, Iowa, entered a written guilty plea to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but four days suspended and credited for any time alear served, fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,698 and directed to pay $99 restitution to the Tama County Sheriff’s Office. His driver’s license was revoked for one year and he was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. He also was directed to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and successfully complete all recommendations and to complete the 12-hour course for drinking drivers at Kirkwood Community College. Troxell was charged on Dec. 21, 2019 in the 100 block of State Street by Tama Police Officer Daniel Sutfin.


Before Judge Kevin McKeever: Audrey Jean Johnson,21, Tama, entered written guilty pleas to charges of 1st offense drunken driving, child endangerment and assault on persons engaged in certain occupations. She received deferred judgments on the drunken driving and child endangerment charges and was placed on unsupervised probation for two years. She was assessed civil penalties totaling $1,875 of which $625 was suspended on the child endangerment charge. Her driver’s license was revoked for 180 days and she was directed to complete the the 12-hour course for drinking drivers at Kirkwood Community College. On the assault charge she was sentenced to a suspended 30-day jail sentence and fined $315. A total of $1,000 in court costs were assessed. The sentences are to run consecutively with sentences imposed in three other earlier cases for a total of 20 years to be served in prison. Johnson was charged on Jan. 5 at 10th and Hall streets, Tama, by Toledo Police Officer nathan Wunn. Brandon Albert Thompson, 20, Tama, pleaded guilty to charges of 3rd degree sexual abuse, 2nd degree burglary and telephonic dissemination of obscene material to minors. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on the sexual abuse and burglary charges and two years for the dissemination charge. A total of $1,625 in fines were suspended. seven additional charges of 3rd degree sexual abuse and a second burglary charge were dismissed by the court. Thompson was originally charged on Dec. 16, 2019, for allegedly breaking into an empty h and engaging in a sex act with a minor and a second instance in which he was in a locked public restroom and engaged in sexual acts with a minor. The charges were filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Trevor Killian. Lanesha Reann Redd, 24, Des Monies, received a deferred judgment on a previous plea of guilty to forgery. She was placed on probation for three years and ordered to pay the supervisory fee, assessed $180 court costs and was directed to pay $1,506 restitution . A $750 civil penalty was suspended. Redd was accused on April 21, 2019, of being part of a conspiracy to cash fraudulent checks ta the cage ta the Meskwaki Bingo • Casino, rural Tama, in October, 2016. The victim was identified in court records as EVERI Holdings, a financial services company which provides check cashing service for the casino. Detective Jacob Molitor noted in the charges there was a delay in filing due to an on-going investigation. Josef Kwasi Brooks 20, Marshalltown, entered a written guilty plea to 1st offense drunken driving. He received a deferred judgment, was placed on unsupervised probation for two years and assessed a civil penalty and court costs totaling $1,250. He was directed to botian a substance abuse evaluation and follow through on any treatment and complete the 12-hour course for drinking drivers at Kirkwood Community College. His driver’s license was revoked for 180 days. Brooks was charged on Oct. 12,2019, at U.S. Highway 63 at K Avenue, Traer, by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Neil Frizzell.
