Tama Co. Supervisors

1st District Supervisor Dan Anderson, rural Tama, was elected chair of the Tama county Board of Supervisors at the beginning of their annual organizational meeting on Thursday morning, Jan. 2. 1st District Supervisor Larry Vest was elected vice chair. Anderson replaces 2nd District Supervisor Kendall Jordan, Toledo, as chair. The post is traditionally rotated yearly.

On a 3-0 vote supervisors followed the recommendation of the Compensation Board, approving wage hikes of three percent for county elected officialsSupervisors did reduce their own pay hike from three to two percent, however.

Pay for elected officers for the 2020-21 fiscal year will be: auditor and commissioner of elections-$60,452; county attorney $91.064; recorder $60,287; sheriff $77,177; supervisor $32,040; and treasurer $60,369.

Dave Forbes, Traer, representing the County Compensation Board, reported to supervisors the pay hike recommendation to supervisors on Dec. 23. He said the the amount was what all seven members initially agreed upon. This was the first time he could recall in his years serving on the board everyone had the same figure in mind at the start, Forbes said.

The board also met with Bob Lincoln, the head of the 22-county members County Social Services. The fiscal year 2020-21 mental health / development disabilities per capita levy totals $34.
