Hometown girl buys Hometown Foods Grand Opening for Hometown Family Market set for December 8
Brody and Tandi Davis with their children Brayla and Brayton in front of their Hometown Family Market.
Tandi Schmitz was a teenager looking for her first job when she began working at Gladbrook Family Market, then owned by Mike and Lori Bearden.
20 years later, Tandi and her husband Brody Davis, are owners of Hometown Family Market, formerly, Gladbrook Hometown Foods, purchased from former owners Lyndon and Joani Johnson, who also operated Hometown Foods in Traer, Conrad, Hubbard, and State Center.
From stocking shelves, carrying out groceries, to store manager, Tandi has done it all in her years with the store.
“Only the name has changed, said Tandi, “we plan to keep providing the customers with the same goods and great service they have come to expect.” “I think the store is very important to the town and important to us as well.”
The Davis’ took their time in making their decision to buy the store, they wanted to make sure the store stayed locally owned, and in September of this year, made the decision to buy the store.
The change of ownership happened on October 28, 2019.
“I would like to thank this great community that I grew up in for all of the support to myself and my family. We are very pleased that we can give back, and plan on giving our customers the same great service we have always provided.” said Davis.
Hometown Family Market will be holding their Grand Opening on Saturday, December 8, the Davis’ want to stop in and see them anytime on Grand Opening Day for in-store specials, samples, and to sign up for drawings. From 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. the Tama County Pork Producers will be grilling up FREE pork tenderloin sandwiches and from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. will be a Fox Ridge Winery tasting.
The Hometown Family Market team would like to thank everyone for the support leading up to the changeover and the continued love and support as we move forward in ownership.
It truly is great being part of a small community!
