Veterans Day Supper

The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary hosted at Veterans Day Supper on Nov. 11th. It is suich a special day for our veterans as we thank them for their service to our country. Special guest attending were Dept. Commander Jim Kessler, 3rd District Commander Dan Huntley, and Tama County Commander Ron Busch. After the dinner, Unit President Jeanne Paustian presented two National honors to the Jr. Auxiliary. They were awarded the plaque for the Best Jr. Activities Program and Public Relations Program in the Central Division. 3rd District Jr. President Jordan Sherman talked about her project of collecting large bottles of shower wash and shampoo and adult coloring books for the residents of the IVH. Jeanne showed a very touching video about Army veteran Sal Giunta, a living Medal Honor Recipient from Iowa. The Gladbrook Auxiliary earned two National honors Best Use of Poppies and Leadership Award. Everyone enjoyed singing the military songs and the veterans always are proud to stand for their song. Sue Koster was the pianist. After Commander Kessler and Huntley brought greetings the program concluded with singing “God Bless America”. Everyone present received a chocolate star sucker with a poppy attached made by an Auxiliary member in South Dakota. Hostesses were Karen Pieper, Jeanne Paustian, and Marilyn Peters.
