Before Associate Judge Nicholas L. Scott in Tama County District Court in Toledo: Colton J. Kroeger 19, Tama, pleaded guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to90 days in jail with all but two days suspended and fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,798. The court may waive $625 of the fine amount if proof of installation of an ignition interlock device is received. He may complete the OWI Weekend Program within 150 days in lieu of serving jail time. Kroeger was charged on Aug. 18 on Business Highway 330 by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe. Diego Miguel Navaroo, 21, Tama, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault. He was sentenced to 14 days in jai with credit for 14 days served, directed to pay up to %50 daily in jail fees and assessed $100 court costs. Navaroo was originally charged on Aug. 2 in the 300 block of East 3rd Street with1st offense domestic abuse assault- injury or mental illness. The charge was filed by Tama Police Officer Anthony Rodriquez. Dawn Marie Murray, 46, rural Elberon , pleaded guilty to driving while licensee revoked. She was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,350. Murray was charged on U.S. Highway 30 near the intersection with Tama County Road E66 on Sept. 19 by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Brian Randall. Tomas J. Meredith, 25, Toledo, pleaded guilty to domestic assault- strangulation. He was sentenced to eight days in jail, credited for eight days served, fined and assessed court costs totaling $944 and directed to successfully complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program. Meredith was charged on Aug. 27 in the 500 block of South Main by Toledo Police Chief Bob Kendall. Lanie Brenda Negrete, 37, rural Tama, pleaded guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but two days suspended, fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,698 and placed on unsupervised probation. The court may waive $625 of the fine amount if proof of installation of an ignition interlock device is received. He was directed to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and to follow through with treatment recommendations. Negrete was charged on May 24 after a vehicle she was operarting collided with a pole at Casey’s General Store. The charge was filed by Tama Police Officer Anthony Rodriquez. Rayman Ira Zachary,42, Elberon, pleaded guilty to assault while displaying a dangerous weapon and 4th degree criminal mischief. He was sentenced to a suspended two year prison term on the weapons charge and placed on unsupervised probation. A fine of $625 was suspended on the assault charge and he was assessed a total of $425 for the criminal mischief charge and court costs. He was ordered to pay $776 victim restitution to Joe Kaloupek, Elberon, for property damages. Zachary was charged on June 7 for allegedly striking a victim with a retractable golf club resulting in a cut and large bruise on the victim’s arm. He was also accused of hitting the victim’s vehicle with the golf club and also keyed the passenger side door. The charges were filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Travis Foster. Logan Matthew Carter, 19, Muscatine, Iowa, received a deferred judgment on an earlier plea of guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was placed on unsupervised probation and directed to pay a $1,250 civil penalty. The court may waive $625 of the penalty amount if proof of installation of an ignition interlock device is received. He also was directed to complete the 12 hour drinking driver’s course. Carter was charged onSept. 14 on Seymour Street by Tama Police Officer Daniel Sutfin. Cambridge A. Skala, 23, Toledo, pleaded guilty to 4th degree criminal mischief. He was sentenced to 17 days in jail with credit for 17 days already served and fined and assessed court costs totaling $550. He was directed to pay $1,000 restitution to Alfredo Flores-Hernandez. Skala was charged on Aug. 30 after damaging a trampoline, screen, windows and doors. The charge was filed b Toledo Police Officer Shawncey Day. Before Judge Mitchell E. Turner: Alicia Castanon Larvie, 18, Tama, entered a written guilty plea to 1st offense drunken driving.She was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but two days suspended, fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,798 and placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for one year. She was directed to pay a $300 probation supervision fee. Larvie was charged on Aug. 25 on East Street by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe. Howe had been dispatched to the area on the report of a person lying in the street. The court information states this person was identified by Larvie as a passenger in the pickup truck she was operating. Christine Lynn Bell, 50, Toledo, entered a written guilty plea to 1st offense drunken driving. She was sentenced to two days in jail but is allowed to successfully complete the OWI Weekend Program in lieu of serving the jail time. She was assessed a total of $954 fine and court costs with $625 of the fine waived for proof of installation of an ignition interlock device. She was also ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and follow any recommendations. Bell was charged on Sept. 5 in the 200 block of Business Highway 30 West by Toledo Police Sgt. Dan Quigley.


Before Judge Mary E. Chicchelly: A minor at the time of the alleged offense received a deferred judgment on a charge of domestic abuse assault after entering a guilty plea. She was assessed a civil penalty and court costs totaling $415 and was placed on supervised probation to the Department of Correctional Services. She was directed to pay a $300 probation supervisory fee and to successfully complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program. The minor was accused of the assault which caused bodily injury on Aug. 14, 2018. John Francis Blanchard, 57, Ames, pleaded guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but two days suspended and was placed on supervised probation to the Department of Correctional Services. He was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1698 and directed to pay a $300 probation supervision fee. He was directed to obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow ant treatment recommendations. Blanchard was charged on Feb. 4 on Business Highway 30 by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe. Nickolas Jay Murty, 32, Tama, pleaded guilty to 3rd degree theft. He was sentenced to two years in prison with the sentence with six other Tama County sentences of five years each for forgery, 2nd and 3rd degree theft. All of the sentences are to be eve concurrently. He was also fined, assessed court costs and a law enforcement initiative surcharge totaling $969. Further, he was directed to pay $1,005 restitution. Murty was charged on Sept. 25 for writing a bad check t the El Gallito Grocery Store by Tama Police Officer Jake Kessler.


Before Judge Jason D. Besler: Tanata Renee Williams, 45, Tama, was sentenced to a suspended 10-year prison term on a charge of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, less than five grams. She previously had entered a guilty plea. Williams was placed on probation for five years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services and ordered to reside in a community corrections center for up to one year. A $1,000 fine was suspended. A pair of companion charges were dismissed. Williams was originally charged on 2nd Avenue in Toledo following a traffic stop in which more than 58 grams of methamphetamine, a scale, needles and baggies were found. Charges of controlled substance violation, neglect of a dependent person and failure to affix drug tax stamp were filed by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe. Benny Richard Bitterlie III, 26, Vining, entered a written guilty pela to 1st offense drunken driving. He sentenced to 30 days in jail with all but two days suspended and was placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for one year. He was fined, assessed a DARE surcharge and court costs totaling $1,828. Bitterlie was charged in the 2800 block of Tama County Road E44, Elberon, on July 14 after the pickup truck he was operating left the roadway and rolled in a field. The charge was field by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Nathan Wunn.
