Housing areas at Union Grove Lake, rural Gladbrook, are to now be in a Lake Residential District as the result of approval of adding a provision to the 1998 Tama County Zoning Ordinance. The Board of Supervisors approved the action on Monday, Oct. 14, as recommended by the County Zoning Commission. Commissioners voted 4-0 on Oct. 2 to make the recommendation to supervisors following a public hearing. Member Russell Pedersen abstained because he is a resident of the lake area. The Lake and Park Holding Corp. Board of Union Grove Lake has sought the change. It provides for action to be taken to remedy dangerous buildings and provides for home construction guidelines and accessory buildings. Also include is a section to address nuisances and abatement. Solar Energy Use of solar energy in rural Tama County has its guidelines modified as the result of Zoning Commission recommendations and approval of the Board of Supervisors on Monday. Overall the new regulations outline the system and installation requirements including safety, type of equipment and location. In other business on Monday the supervisors: •voted 3-0 against providing remedy for a settlement for a claim for drainage problems at K Avenue and East Harrison Street in Toledo. •approved rezoning classification for the Tama county Landfill at rural Toledo from agriculture to heavy industrial. •approved the title administrative officer to apply to the county zoning administrator or a designee. •approved utility permits for Windstream in Clark and Richland townships and for Alliant Energy / Interstate Power in Indian Village Township. •approved weekly claims totaling $198,029.
