Tama Co. District Court Before Judge Mitchell E. Turner in Tama County District Court in Toledo: Dennis Lee Cooper Jr., 60, last listed address Lincoln, entered a written guilty plea to failure to comply with sex offender registry requirements- 1st offense. He received a suspended two-year prison sentence and was placed on supervised probation for one year to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. Cooper was charged on Aug. 1, 2019, after reportedly leaving a previous residence in Lincoln by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Quandt. Dawn Marie Murray, 46, rural Elberon, entered a written guilty plea to the lesser charge of disorderly conduct. She was fined and assessed court costs totaling $188. a no contact order was lifted and cancelled. She was directed to pay victim restitution for damage to a television. Murray was orignally charged on Aug. 13, 2018, with 4th degree criminal mischief after allegedly throwing a fan at a television resulting in the TV screen breaking. The charge was filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Neil Frizzell. Suad Covic, 27, Waterloo, admitted violation of the terms and conditions of probation which had been granted on Feb. 13, 2018. A deferred judgment granted previously was revoked. On charges of 1st degree theft and 1st degree criminal mischief he was sentenced to 10 years in prison on each count and on charges of 3rd degree burglary and 2nd degree theft he was sentenced to five year prison terms. He was cited in a probation violation report involving criminal charges in Black Hawk County. The sentences imposed in Tama County are to run concurrently with sentences imposed in Black Hawk County. Covic was charged on June 3, 2017 in connection with the theft and attempted theft of vehicles from a field and farm buildings and damages incurred at rural Traer. They include 10 years for 1st degree theft and five years for 3rd degree burglary. He had been charged by Waterloo Police in connection with a burglary at the Karma Bar on Feb. 14, 2018. Skylier Ross Makes Room For Them, 25, Toledo, entered a written admission of violation of terms of probation. He was sentence to seven days in jail with credit for seven days served. He was cited in a probation violation report for testing positive for use of alcohol and narcotics while residing at a correctional center. Makes Room For Them was orignally sentenced on charges of drunken driving and eluding on April 13, 2015, and placed on probation. Jose Luis Romo, 32, Tama,, entered a written guilty plea of a charge of driving while barred. He received a suspended, 90-day jail sentence, was fined and assessed court costs totaling $944 and was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. Romo was charged on July 19 at the U.S. 30 Expressway southwest ramp by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe. Troy Phares Clark, 52, Waterloo, was sentenced to 90 days in jail with all but five days suspended and fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,868 on a previous plea of guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was place on supervised probation for one year to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services and directed ot pay the enrollment fee. Clark was charged on Feb. 26 in the 700 block of South County Road (U.S. Highway 63) by Toledo Police Officer Kyle Howe.


Before Judge Christopher L. Bruns Justin Lyle Lekin, 40, Toledo, entered a written plea of guilty to 2nd offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to a two-year prison term with all but seven days suspended and fined and assessed court costs totaling $2,641. His driving privileges were suspended for six years. Lekin was charged on Nov. 7, 2018, in the 200 block of West 2nd Avenue by Toledo Police Officer Anthony Rodriguez.
