The Iowa 4-H Shooting Sports Program provides activities at all levels through the state to meet our overall goal to “empower youth to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with a caring adult through a shooting sports related activity.” 4-H members participate in their county or regional programs to develop as shooters and individuals and then get the opportunity to participate on a larger scale as they become more proficient. The disciplines include archery, rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader and wildlife skills. In addition to competitions, Tama County Young Guns 4-H Club include activities such as meetings, guest speakers, community service projects, fundraisers, communication presentations and the Tama County Fair. They will have a Find Out Night at the Tama County Extension Office (located at 203 West High Street in Toledo) on Thursday, September 5 at 6:00 p.m. They have many things planned for this upcoming year. Come and see what they are all about! For more information on Tama County 4-H and Shooting Sports, contact Jenny Hulme, County Youth Coordinator, at jhulme@iastate.edu or 641-484-2703.
