Before Judge Paul D. Miller in Tama County District Court in Toledo:


Redmon Lee Keahna, 33, Tama, admitted violation of terms of probation. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, credited for 90 days already served and discharged from probation. He was accused in a probation violation report of being arrested on Dec. 1, 2018, and charged with dominion / control of a firearm / offensive weapon by a domestic abuser, 3rd offense possession of a controlled substance driving while license suspended or revoked and vehicle insurance violation. H also was accused of failure to attend a probation sign up appointment on Nov. 21, 2018. Keahna had been sentenced on a charge of 2nd offense domestic abuse assault on Nov. 15, 2018, with 60 days of a 90 day sentence suspended and a one-year probation term. He had been cited for striking the victim with his fist causing and eye injury by Tama Police Officer Neil Frizzell on Aug. 31, 2018. Jonathan Thomas Cowles, 29, Tama, entered an Alford plea of guilty to manufacture, deliver or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver less than 5 grams of methamphetamine. An Alford plea is not an admission of guilt but recognizes enough evidence can be presented in court to likely obtain a conviction. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison to be served concurrently with another sentence. The prison term was then suspended and Cowles was placed on probation for three years. A fine of $1,000 was suspended and a law enforcement surcharge and court costs totaling $325 were assessed. He was directed to reside in a community corrections center for up to one year. Cowles was charged on Nov. 28, 2018, following a traffic stop at Tama County Road E49 and Meskwaki Road. in which he was a passenger. The criminal complaint states about 11 grams of meth, a large quantity of small plastic baggies and a scale were found in the back seat behind where Cowles was seated. The charge was field by Tama Police Officer Neil Frizzell. Michael Lee Nagle, 47, rural Garwin, pleaded guilty to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to two days in jail with the term allowed to be served in Colorado and fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,798. He was ordered to complete a substance abuse evaluation and follow any recommended treatment. Nagle was charged on March 23, 2018, after a vehicle he was driving reportedly went into a ditch in the 1300 block of Tama county Road E27 near Garwin by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Sean Gehring. Brady David Silberger, 22, Vinton, received a deferred sentence on a charge of 2nd degree burglary to which he had plead guilty earlier. He was placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for three years and pay the enrollment fee. He was assessed a $1,000 civil penalty and directed to pay court costs and a law enforcement initiative fee totaling $341. He was also directed to pay restitution. Silberger was charged in an early morning incident on Feb. 17, 2018 at a residence in the 1300 block of Wilson Street in Dysart. He was accused of accompanying a second man who kicked in a door of the residence and threatened six occupants with a handgun. Silberger was accused of striking one of the occupants with his closed fist causing minor injures ot the victim’s face. In addition to the burglary county Silberger was also originally charged with assault while participating in a felony and going armed with intent. The charges were field by Dysart Police Chief Joe Hols. Rose Marie Levingston, 33, Marshalltown, entered a written guilty plea to driving while barred. She was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,877, sentenced to a suspended two-year prison term and placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. She was directed to pay the supervisory enrollment fee. Levingston was charged on April 23, 2017 ib the 1300 block of Iowa Highway 96 in Gladbrook by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Quandt.


Before District Associate Judge Nicholas Scott: Stacy Duran Youngbear,26, rural Tama, pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana. He received a deferred judgment, was placed on unsupervised probation and assessed $100 court costs. Youngbear was charged at 13th and Harding streets on Nov. 3, 2018, following a traffic stop by Tama Police Officer Cooper Coffman. Anthony Ray Arp, 42, Toledo, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury. He received a deferred judgment and was assessed a $315 civil penalty, $160 court costs and placed on supervised probation to the Department of Correctional Services for which he is to pay the supervision fee. He must also obtain a substance abuse evaluation and follow through with any treatment recommendations. Arp was originally charge following a domestic altercation in the 800 block of East 4th Street which occurred on Dec. 10, 2018. He was accused of striking the victim in the face, pushing her ot the ground continuing to strike her. She told police she kicked Arp, possibly dislocating his shoulder, which resulted in ending his assault. The original charge of domestic abuse assault was filed by Tama Police Officer Daniel Sutfin.
