Before Judge Ian K. Thornhill in Tama County District Court in Toledo:


Alex Richard Deike, 27, Wellsburg, Iowa, was found in contempt of court. He was ordered to serve 50 days in jail and to be returned to a residential correctional facility. He was also directed to pay $100 for the expense of court-appointed legal counsel. Deike was cited in a probation violation report for having been charged on July 15 with possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense. He had orginally received deferred judgment on a charge of 3rd offense possession of a controlled substance on July 15, 2016. Deike was charged on May 17, 2015, in the parking lot of the Meskwaki Bingo • Casino • Hotel by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police.

Deven Ray Spinks, 28, Tama, admitted violation of terms of probation. He was sentenced to prison terms of two years on three separate charges and five years on a fourth charge with the terms to be served concurrently. He was cited in a probation violation report for being charged with escape form custody. At a hearing on Sept. 20 in Tama County District Court Spinks reprotedly fled after being told he was being arrested on a warrant for probation violation. He was apprehended one-half block away form the Courthouse by officers in an alley way. The warrant was for violations for missing appointments with his probation officer, substance abuse treatment counselor and domestic abuse intake coordinator, testing ppositive for methamphetamine use and being arrested for 4th degree criminal mischief. His terms of probation were on charges of 2nd offense domestic abuse assault, 2nd degree theft and failure to appear. Matthew Ryan Milner, 34, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to forgery He received a suspended five-year sentence with the sentence to be served concurrently with those imposed in Linn County. He was placed on probation for three years to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services. and directed to pay the probation enrollment fee. A fine of $750 was suspended and he was assessed a law enforcement initiative fee and court costs totaling $618. Milner was charged for attempting to cash a stolen check at Check into Cash in Cedar Rapids by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Quandt. The check had bene reported stolen from Legendary Motors in Traer. Gustavo Alonzo Diaz Jr., 26, Marshalltown, admitted violation of terms of probation. He sentenced to prison terms of five and 10 years to run concurently and also to be served concurrently with a Marshall County sentence. Diaz was accused in a probation violation report of escape for not returning to the Marshalltown Residential Facility where he had been directed to stay as part of his previous sentences. He had been sentenced in Tama County for 1st degree theft and possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent offense and been put in residential placement. Diaz was charged by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police Officer Kenneth R. Brady for being found in possession of a stolen 2010 Cadillac and possession of methamphetamine on Oct. 20, 2017.
