We hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We made it through the weekend and missed the big snow so let’s look ahead with what’s coming up in the next 30 days. November 26 is the Christmas tree lighting with a lot going on for both young and old. There will be horse drawn trolley rides, caroling, lighting the Main Street tree and of course Santa will be upstairs in the City Centre for the kids and there will be hot dogs and cider on Main Street. Also in the City Centre will be a Farmers Market. Be sure to stop and see all the Christmas trees on display for the Festival of Trees. A lot of people did a lot of work helping to get everyone in the Christmas spirit. On December 2 the Legion will have a pancake breakfast with pancakes, eggs, sausages, French toast, juice and lots more. We start off December 8 with the kid’s shopping day at the Peace Church with free shopping for all kids to get gifts for their family. Also that day is the annual Lions Soup Day with serving from 11:00 to 1:00. We will have bean soup, chili and potato soup plus hot dogs and lots of homemade pies. As you can see, our town is really trying to get everyone in the Christmas mood before December 25. Now along with everything else going on, the City Council has decided to try going back to the good old days of winter. On good snow days, the council along with Mark Lowry’s help are going to try to keep the street on the west side of the park closed and ungraded for the kids to slide on. This means that we will be blocking the street at both the north and south side of the park. Please respect the barricades on all corners around that area and keep a sharp eye out for kids and sleds. In the past, it was always fun for the kids! We hope this will work! Also remember to have your vehicles off the streets when it snows so Mark can get them plowed. If you don’t, they can and will be towed! Mark starts plowing about 3:00 or 4:00 in the morning so you might want to remove them the night before a snow.
