GMG FFA Members Exhibit Livestock at the Iowa State Fair
Three members of the GMG FFA Chapter in Garwin exhibited livestock at the Iowa State Fair August 9-19, 2018. Zoe Duncan exhibited a breeding ewe and a market lamb in the Iowa FFA Sheep show on August 9th and 10th. Zoe placed in the middle of her classes with both sheep and received blue ribbons for her exhibits. Zoe is the daughter of Chad and Andrea Duncan of rural Garwin. Zoe exhibited sheep for the first time this year and did an excellent job. She also received a blue award for herdsmanship. Layne Murty exhibited a Simmental Breeding Heifer in the Iowa FFA Breeding beef show. Layne’s heifer placed second in her class and received a blue ribbon. Conner Murty exhibited a Simmental Breeding Heifer as well and placed second in his class with his exhibit as well and received a blue ribbon. In addition Conner earned a showmanship award and received a belt buckle for his award. Layne and Conner are the sons of Steve and Erin Murty of rural Gladbrook. The GMG FFA was well represented by our members at the 2018 Iowa State Fair and our members are looking forward to the 2019 Iowa State Fair!
