Jake Rabe of Rabe Hardware in Blairstown was the guest speaker for the August meeting of the Garwin Lions Club. Rabe focused on producing electricity using solar panels. He stated, “Solar is good for Iowa and with current tax advantages this is the time to install.”

The meal was the annual “Fish Fry” and was held on August 9 in the Christian Church in Garwin.

Two new members, Matt Deam and Kenny Mayo were welcomed into the Garwin Lions Club. During the business meeting members discussed used eyeglass and hearing aid collection boxes. Plans were tentatively made to place collection boxes at the Lincoln Savings Bank and the American Legion. Both establishments are in Garwin.
