Trial for Dustin Jerome Jefferson, 41, on five counts of 3rd degree sexual abuse has been reset for June 5 in Tama County District Court in Toledo. Judge Fae Hooever-Grinde set a pre-trial conference for May 25. Court records show this is the seventh pre-trial conference set in the case. was charged on Oct. 9, 2103, by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police. Dustin Jefferson was convicted of aiding and abetting the murder of his wife by a Jasper County Jury on Feb. 9, 2016, on a change of venue from Tama County. Carrie Lea O’Clair Jefferson, 32, was found dead in a Tama residence on Sept. 25, 2013. His verdict is on appeal. Dustin Jefferson’s mother, Ginger lea Jefferson, 60, is serving a life term on a conviction of 1st degree murder by a Tama County Jury in May .2014. Her conviction was upheld on appeal on Nov. 25, 2015. Issaiah Thomas Roberts, 37, South Sioux City, Neb., pleaded guilty to 2nd degree theft and 4th degree criminal mischief. District Court Judge Mary E. Chicchelly sentenced Roberts to five years in prison on the theft charge and a 60-day jail term ot be served concurrently for criminal mischief. Roberts was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,847 and directed to pay restitution totaling $610 to Danny Yuska, Tama Pawn, and $475 to the City of Tama which paid for towing and storage of a pickup truck while held in evidence. Roberts was charged with taking a 20006 pickup truck on May 3, 23016, by Tama Police Officer Neil Frizell.
