Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service has named the new full-time Paramedic/Ambulance Service Director. Ryan Sutcliffe, of Gladbrook, has been hired to fill the position that was needed after the retirement of Jeanne and Darrel Paustian after 38 years of volunteer service to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service. Ryan brings to this position experience in training, supervising and scheduling. Some his duties include ordering of supplies, and billing. Ryan will be on duty at the Gladbrook Fire Station during the daytime, and ready to answer any daytime calls. Since the retirement of the Paustians, the crew had to use the members who worked in town to answer the calls, with them having to leave their place of employment at a moments notice, with the hiring of Ryan, this will not be a problem anymore. Prior to his employment the Gladbrook-Lincoln service, Ryan worked for Grundy County Memorial Hospital and Wheaton Covenant in Oelwein, Iowa in the position of paramedic. He became a paramedic in 2007. Ryan’s goal with his position is to provide the City of Gladbrook and surrounding area with the highest level of emergency care possible. The Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance service covers anywhere from 150 to 200 calls a year. Ryan is hoping to grow the membership of the service in EMT’s and drivers. Ryan’s office hours are from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Gladbrook Fire and Ambulance Building located on Hwy 96, Gladbrook, so feel free to stop and meet the new director. Ryan and his wife, Laurel, also on the service and a nurse at Westbrook Acres live about a mile outside of town.
