Lions hear DNR Office Thompson By Margaret Thomsen

Garwin Lions Club Program Chairman, introduced DNR Officer Roger Thompson as he presented the program for the Garwin Lions Club meeting. Thompson visited about the new things going on at Union Grove Lake. Cabins are being restored, the recent dredging of the lake, fish stocking, use of the facilities and the dam waterfall were all explained. Union Grove Lake was recently drained and the facility is being readied for use again. Thompson discussed the large amount of funding it has taken to up grade the lake and its amenities. Lion President Mark Polich said, “Officer Thompson did an outstanding job talking about all the exciting things that have been happening out at Union Grove Lake. It is a great attraction for our area.” In regular business the April 1 Lion’s Annual BBQ Supper will be held at the High School in Garwin. The Lions will help the Garwin Little League purchase a pitching mound. The Lions also will be repairing the “Welcome to Garwin” sign on the east end of town.
