Last week I reported Dennis Wobeter as a Land owner for the Tama County Compensation for Condemnation Board. This was incorrect. This should have read People with Knowledge of Real Estate Values with Keith Sash of Gladbrook the person approved. This also included Licensed real Estate Brokers and Sales Persons: Marvin Boldt, Traer. Farm Owner Operators: Dennis Wobeter, Toledo and Rick Hopper, Toledo. Tama County Supervisors met this Monday, March 13 with Jordan, Vest and Anderson all present. A resolution stating the Tama County Compensation Board meets annually to recommend a compensation schedule for the elected officials for the fiscal year immediately following. The Tama County Compensation Board met on December 13, 2016, and made the following salary recommendations: Elected Official Auditor Current Salary $54,238 Proposed Increase 4% Recommended Salary $56,408
County Attorney Current Salary $82,188 Proposed Increase 4% Recommended Salary $85,476
Recorder Current Salary $54,090 Proposed Increase 4% Recommended Salary $56,254
Sheriff Current Salary $69,289 Proposed Increase 4% Recommended Salary $72,062
Supervisors Current Salary $28,958 Proposed Increase 3.5% Recommended Salary $30,117
Treasurer Current Salary $54,163 Proposed Increase 4% Recommended Salary $56,330 At the January 30, 2017 meeting the Board of Supervisors met and reduced the recommendations for the Auditor, Attorney, Recorder, Sheriff and Treasurer by 37.5% to 2.5% and to lower the Supervisors from the recommendation of 3.5% by 50% to 1.75%. This made the salaries that were approved as follows. Elected Official, Approved Salary, Approved Increase Auditor $55,594 2.5 County Attorney $84,243 2.5% Recorder $55,443 2.5% Sheriff $71,022 2.5% Supervisors $29,465 1.75% Treasurer $55,518 2.5% A Liquor License for the Traer Golf Club was reviewed and approved. County Engineer Lyle Brehm was present for approval of three Utility Permits. These include work to be done in Oneida Township and York Township by Poweshiek Water Association. The other permit was for work to be done in Tama Township by Interstate Power. A Public Hearing at 10:00 A.M. for the County Budget was held with no one present for comments. The resolution was then passed which approved and adopted the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget making the total property taxes levied $9,063,462. This is the same amount that was levied last year. This is the budget that was published in official newspapers for Tama County. Claims approved for t he past week came to $1145,773.89
