CROP walk 2016 is in the books. There were 19 walkers from Peace UCC and Salem Church of Lincoln that participated in the walk plus and many individuals that contributed financial gifts, that remain anonymous. CROP is a ministry of Church World Services that work with people around the world to help in sustainable farming, developing water sources as well as helping to support food pantries in the United States. This year our walk was a scavenger hunt around the town of Lincoln where both youth and adults learned where some of the sights used to be as well as current locations. Our CROP walk began at Salem Church of Lincoln and took us each of the streets in Lincoln to find a treasure related to the location. Thanks go out to John Buskohl, David Buskohl, Deb and Trent Wentzien, Tyler Wentzien, the AmVet Hall, Lincoln Fire Department Richard and MaryAnn Ellis, the Spirit of…the Community Building,Lincoln School,Train Depot, and the Evangelical Church. Special Thanks goes to Annie Stocker of Gladbrook Insurance Agency and MaryAnn Ellis for providing “treasures” for us to find. Following the CROP walk walkers returned to Salem Church where Mary Lou Downey and LaRue Brandemuhl served treats on behalf of Living Branches. CROP walk is held the first Sunday in October every year as churches celebrate World Wide Communion Sunday. A day in which we recognize our relationship with our brothers and sisters around the world, serving and helping to make a difference.
