Tama County Supervisors Kendall Jordan, Dan Anderson and Larry Vest met Tuesday morning, September 6, with Tama County Sheriff Dennis Kucera and approved law enforcement agreement contracts with several Tama County Towns. The contracts with the city of Traer, Dysart and Gladbrook is for $46.15 per hour, with Traer at two hundred hours per month, Gladbrook with one hundred twenty hours per month and Dysart as needed. Clutier, Chelsea and Elberon all have agreement contracts for $2000 per year. Garwin’s contract is for $10,500 a year. Lincoln’s contract is for $1700 a year. Montour’s contract has not yet been finalized. Supervisors voted unanimously for a resolution for a 28E Agreement between the Mid Iowa Drug Task Force and the municipalities in the Four County area of the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy Task Force comprised of Grundy, Hardin, Marshall and Tama Counties as well as municipalities of Dysart, Eldora, Iowa Falls, Marshalltown and Tama. This will coordinate their drug law investigation, enforcement and prosecution efforts and to share resources available through various sources of funding. Iowa Code Chapter 28E provides guidelines and mechanisms for such coordination. In the course of the agencies’ and officers’ investigation and enforcement of drug laws, it may become necessary for officers to act outside of their normal jurisdiction, or it may be advantageous for law enforcement agencies to share resources on a request-for-assistance basis. The named counties and municipalities above all agree to enter into the 28E agreement with the Mid Iowa Drug Task force. Claims approved for payment for t he past week came to $363,811.54.
