The Gladbrook City Council held their regular monthly meeting on May 9, 2016. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM, and the consent agenda was approved. In new business, Doug Gethmann spoke to the council about wanting to insert culverts, a pond, and a covered bridge. A project update was given on the lagoon improvement project. The DNR approved the I & I portion of the project, they will hopefully begin in June. Res. 16-52 was approved, paying French-Reneker $3062.90. Clapsaddle-Garber claims was approved to pay $1750 and $1425. The final reading of Ordinance No. 128 was passed and adopted through Res. 16-55. Contracts were approved for the Grand St. Bridge with a possible start in August. Claims were approved to pay Goos $41.45 and Napa $118.15. Res. 16-54 was approved to authorize signature on monetary accounts. Clerk insurance compensation was approved, reembersing the clerk $386.69. Lori’s compensation adjustment was approved, giving her 2 weeks paid vacation and raising her salary to $20/hour for her “counseling hours” which include the time period from April 25-present. City hall hours will be 8 AM to 1 PM. An employee handbook workshop was set for May 19 at 6:00 PM. There will be a proposed budget amendment hearing on May 24 at 6:30 PM. In public works, there was discussion about street maintenance and an update on the sewer improvements. The meeting was adjourned at 9:14 PM. The council’s next regular meeting will take place on June 13, 2016 at 7 PM.
