Before Tama County District Court Judge Lars Anderson in Toledo:


Erin Venessa Leeper, 33, Gladbrook, was sentenced to a suspended five-year prison term and placed on probation for two years to the 6th Judicial District Department of correctional services. Leeper had entered a guilty plea to perjury. She was directed to pay $240 court costs. A $750 fine was suspended. Leeper was originally charged on Sept. 16, 2015, for registering to vote and voting in the Sept. 8 Gladbrook-Reinbeck School election. Leeper was not eligible according to court records be cause she is a convicted felon. The charge was filed by Detective Bruce Rhoads of the Tama County Sheriff’s Office. Records also show she was charged with 1st degree election conduct as well in a County Attorney’s information which stated Leeper his a habitual offender having been convicted of child endangerment- bodily injury in 2007 in Marshall County. Alex Richard Deike, 25, Wellsburg, admitted violation of terms of probation. He was sentenced to serve 30 days in the Tama County Jail in Toledo. In his probation report Deike was accused of testing positive for methamphetamine, and marijuana. Deike originally received a deferred judgment on a charge of possession of meth filed in the Meskwaki Casino parking lot, rural Tama, on May 7, 2015, by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Polcie Officer Eric S.
