Corn Carnival Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) — Week 2

With the 2016 Gladbrook Corn Carnival only a few weeks away, we have decided to start a weekly feature answering many frequently asked questions that are sent our way. We thought this might be a fun way to get readers “in the loop.” Rememberthat the dates this year are June 23rd-26th.

We are going to continue week 2 FAQ with one of our fun questions. You asked:

“How are the Corn Cob Queen candidates selected and who have been past Queens?”

We answered:

This now annual event was started by a committee member’s idea in 2009 and we thought would generate some interest as well as go along with our annual event.

Nominations are currently being taken for any Gladbrook female over the age of 18 to be a candidate to rein over the 2016 Corn Carnival. These nominations can be given to either Jeanne Paustian or Rose Russell. By June 1st, they will have a drawing of all those nominated who agree to participate as they try to get the candidate field down to 4 or 5 deserving ladies. Then buckets are placed in Hometown Foods and the Gladbrook Theatre so that voting is done via the change or bills placed in that individual’s bucket. The winner will receive some really nice prizes as well as a convertible ride through the Grand Parade on Friday night. Great Fun!!

Past Gladbrook Corn Carnival Queens are:

2009 Sara DeBerg & Marlene Wiebensohn

2010 Dave Wurr

2011 Rose Russell

2012 Jodi Betts

2013 Sheresa Lynch

2014 Deb Osborn

2015 Tandi Davis

2016 Could it be you???

Until next week and our next FAQ, have a great week!
