Before Judge Fae Hoover Grinde: Steven Wayne Burkett, 51, Sheffield, Iowa, entered a written guilty plea to possession of a controlled substance, marijuana. He received a deferred judgment and as assessed a civil and court costs totaling $540. Burkett was cited on Jan. 8 by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police. David Donald Gill, 57, La Porte City, entered a written guilty plea to 1st offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to two days in jail and fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,798. He may complete the 12-hour drinking drivers course in lieu of serving the jail time if completed within 150 days of sentencing. Gill was originally charged on Jan. 1 at 3rd Street and U.S. Highway 63 by Iowa State Trooper Jared Rude. Brandon Wayne Janssen, 34, Lisbon, Iowa, admitted violation of terms of probation and it was revoked. He was ordered to serve the five-year prison term but was assigned to the an OWI program. Janssen was accused in a probation report of being arrested at Mt. Vernon on Feb. 3, 2016, on charges of drunken driving, barred license and speeding and on Sept. 11, 2015, of a report of failure ot follow through with substance abuse outpatient services. Janssen was originally charged in the 1800 block of U.S. Highway 30 on July 1, 2015, by Toledo Police. Kristin Isabelle Jefferson, 32, rural Tama, admitted violation of terms of probation. Her probation was amended to supervised probation from unsupervised probation and extended for one year. She was originally sentenced for assault with use or display of weapon on Jan. 2, 2014. Jefferson was originally charged on July 23, 2013, by Meskwaki Nation Tribal Police. Terry Lee Schoenhut II, 32, rural Traer, entered a written guilty plea to 2nd offense drunken driving. He was sentenced to seven days in jail, fined and assessed court costs totaling $2,943 and directed to complete a 12-hour drinking driver’s course. Schoenhut was originally charged on Oct. 1, 2015, with 3rd offense drunken driving in the 100 block of Division Street, Montour, by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Brian Randall.


Before Judge Patrick R. Grady in Tama County District Court in Toledo:


Shewitt H. Berhe Lagos, 32, Toledo, entered a written plea of guilty to public intoxication,n 3rd or subsequent offense. He received a suspended two-year prison sentence, was fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,004 and was placed on self-supervised probation. As a condition of probation he is prohibited from entering any bars, restaurants or taverns hold beer or liquor sales licenses. The charge was filed on March 19, in the 100 block of East High Street by Toledo Police Officer Fred Oster.


Before Judge Marsha Bergan: Petrcie Butterfield, 40, Marshalltown, was sentenced to 27 days in jail with credit for 27 days already served and had probation extended for one year to Oct. 30, 2017, after admitting she failed to abide by terms of probation. She must also reside in a community corrections facility for up to one year. Butterfield was cited in a probation report for alleged violations in Tama and Marshall counties. Butterfield had originally been sentenced on April 18, 2014, on a charge of 2nd degree theft.
