A public hearing for the Fiscal Year 2017 county budget was held at 10:00 a. m. Monday morning, March 14, by the Tama County Board of Supervisors, Larry Vest, Kendall Jordan and Dan Anderson. The budget shows Countywide levies of $7,007,781.00, All Rural Services only levies of $2,055,684, for a total of $9,053,465.00. The prescribed Budget Public Hearing Notice and Proposed Budget Estimate was lawfully published in all official newspapers. Budget Hearing notices were published prior to the budget hearing. There was no dissenters or questions on the budget. Supervisors voted 3-0 to adopt the budget for the fiscal year 2017. Tami Wise asked Supervisors to consider a part time employee for her office for answering phone and working with those coming through the door. Wise stated she and another full time employee had been serving well over one hundred clients before she took over the Supervisors part of the Insurance system. Wise says they have trouble keeping up as they have many walk ins each day. In other business the Supervisors approved a liquor license for the Traer Golf Club, 1673 Highway 63,Traer. Auditor Laura Kopsa told supervisors all paper work was in order for the renewal. Claims in the amount of $45,532.42 were approved for payment. The next Supervisors meeting is Monday, March 21 at 9:30 a.m.
