Gladbrook-Reinbeck Elementary Student, Paul Brockett, placed first in the Knights of Columbus State Spelling Bee in Ames on March 6th. To be eligilble, Paul first place second at the District Spelling Bee and tied for first place in the Regional Spelling Bee.

In all three competitions Paul and the same student from Cedar Falls were the final two spellers. He finally defeated the other student with the word “resemblance” after 42 rounds in the state competition.

We are all so proud of Paul’s accomplishment! We wish him well when he competes in the Scripps Spelling Bee in Ames on March 12th.
