Tama County District Court Before Tama County District Court Judge Mary E. Chicchelly in Toledo: Christian Coury, 25, Marshalltown, was sentenced to two days in jail, directed to complete drinking drivers school and pay fines and court costs totaling $1,798. He pleaded guilty earlier on Dec. 17, to 1st offense drunken driving. He was charged on Nov. 29, 2015, by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on the U.S. Highway 30 Expressway at mile marker. A charge of driving while license suspended was dismissed. Leona Kay McDonough, 49, Gladbrook, pleaded guilty to charge of assault (non-domestic) in a plea agreement. She received a deferred judgment and was placed on unsupervised probation. She was assessed a civil penalty and court costs totaling $225. McDonough was originally charged on Dec. 2, 2015, with serious domestic assault by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Sean Gehring. Ashley Eletta Smith, 30, Clive, Iowa, was sentenced to two days in jail and fined and assessed court costs totaling $1,798 on a charge of 1st offense drunken driving. She entered a written guilty plea on Dec. 10, 2015. Smith was charged on Dec. 6, 2014, in the 2600 block of U.S. Highway 30, Chelsea, by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office. Amy Maxine Stanley, 41, Marshalltown, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of Lorazepam without a prescription. She was fined and assessed cout costs totaling $1,710. A second charge of possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance was dismissed. Stanley was charged on Sept. 30, 2015, at the Meskwaki Casino / Hotel, rural Tama, when she was arrested on a warrant and found to be in possession of a prescription narcotic not prescribed or belonging to her in a baggie, not the proper legal container. The charge was field by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Michael Wright. Leigha Irene Welch, 18, Toledo, was sentenced to two days in jail and assessed a fine and court costs totaling $430 on a charge of possession of marijuana. She was charged on Nov. 26, 2014, by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office. Matthew John Williams, 31, Tama, pleaded guilty to a charge of child endangerment. He received a deferred judgment, was assessed a civil penalty and court costs totaling $725 and was placed on unsupervised probation. He was also directed to pay a $300 probation supervisory fee. Williams originally was charged on Aug. 1, 2015, with assault-domestic abuse by Tama Police Officer Michael German.


Tama County Magistrate Court Danny Dean Hermann, 55, and Brad A. Heermann, 37, both of Evansdale, have entered guilty pleas to charges involving illegal trapping of wildlife before Tama County Magistrate Richard Vander Mey in Toledo Court. Both had been cited in April, 2015, at Tama County Roads T47 and 230th Street by Iowa State Conservation Officer Brett Reece. Danny Herrmann pleaded guilty to illegal taking of wildlife / fur bearing animals, abandonment of a dead or injured animal, no license for fur bearing animal and traps- prohibited method. He was fined and assessed court costs totaling $645 for the violations. In addition he must pay court costs totaling $314 on four related charges which were dismissed including no license to take fur bearing animals, traps- prohibited method and two counts of illegal taking furbearing animals. .Brad Herrmann was fined and assessed court costs totaling $127 on a charge of illegal taking of wildlife / fur bearing animals. Charges of trapping on public right-of-way out of season and attempt to take fur bearing animals out-of-season were dismissed with a total of $120 court costs assessed.

Anthony Todd Tucker, 53, Waterloo, was found guilty following trial of fraudulent use of vehicle registration. He was fined and assessed court costs totaling $336. The charge was filed on Nov. 5, 2015, at U.S. Highway 63 and 180th Street by the Iowa State Patrol.
