G-R School Board

By Madeline Mussig The Gladbrook-Reinbeck School Board held their regular monthly meeting on January 21, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. The meeting was called to order and began with a presentation from the Speech Department given by Coach Val Ehlers and students Kelly and Sadie Brockett, Lily Heinzel, Dan Robinett, Brittany Yates, Carter Murphy, Jesse Royer, and Bryce Clark. Matt Switzer also gave a brief presentation to the board about the Iowa Report Card. The agenda and consent agenda were approved. There was no old business. In new business, Madeline Mussig gave a presentation about the Senior Class Trip to Minneapolis, MN. The trip was approved. Fees for Driver’s Education in the spring were approved to charge $335 per student and pay the instructor $205 per student for driving and classroom time. John Olson gave a presentation regarding the city sign to be placed in Reinbeck. The board approved $7,500 to contribute towards the sign. Jason Strub asked for approval to continue applying for the 4 Year Old Preschool Grant. The Drop Out Prevention Application was discussed. Board policies 203, 401.6, 405.2, 705.1, 708, and 404.R1 were all approved. During the Superintendent’s Report, Superintendent Jay Mathis stated that Gladbrook-Reinbeck ranked 39 out of 395 in the Niche Report for Top High Schools in Iowa. The board’s next meeting will take place on February 16, 2016 at 6:30. The meeting was adjourned at 7:51.
