Leytham pleads guilty

Anna Lori Leytham, 52, Garwin, pleaded guilty on Jan. 19 to a charge of theft concerning a program receiving federal funds. The plea was entered in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids. She was released from custody and placed on pretrial supervision to the U.S. Probation Office. Court records did not specify a date for sentencing. She was accused in the federal case involving Community Development block grant funds received by the City of Garwin in 2010. Five counts of 1st degree theft and one charge of ongoing criminal conduct were dismissed in Tama County District Court in Toledo as the result of the plea agreement in the federal case. Leytham has also been released from custody at the Tama County Jail where she had been held since her June 16, 2015, arrest on order of the court according to a jail official. So far, only District Costs totaling $182 have been assessed to Leytham. Leytham, while serving as Garwin City Clerk, was accused of theft involving $562,090 in city funds following a special audit by the office of Auditor of State Mary Mosiman.
